Thaki in Syria

A new chapter for learning

Thaki provides refurbished laptops, offline digital learning and teacher support to schools and learning centers serving vulnerable children in Syria.

Thaki was born in 2015 in response to the Syrian refugee crisis. A decade later, we were able to begin supporting schools inside Syria itself.

The need remains immense. Years of conflict have damaged the education system, displaced families and left millions of children out of school or at risk of dropping out. Schools and communities are rebuilding with limited resources.

For Thaki, returning to Syria is both a new beginning, and a return to the reason our work started.

A story of possibility

In late 2025, we delivered our first installment of laptops to Syria as part of a pilot engagement with reopening schools. In total, 127 devices were distributed in Syria during the year.

Each Thaki laptop can carry an offline library of thousands of learning resources into a classroom where connectivity and educational materials may be constrained.

This work is still at an early stage. We want to grow carefully, alongside local education partners, so that the support we provide responds to what schools and learners actually need.
